The Autism Medical & Research Summit (AMRS) is an international, multidisciplinary congress dedicated to high-support autism, —a subgroup representing approximately 30% of the autistic population. Based on a global prevalence of 1% (1 in 100), this corresponds to an estimated 1.35 million individuals in the European Union and more than 24 million worldwide who require substantial or very substantial daily support, often due to limited functional communication, co-occurring intellectual disability, and significant behavioural or medical complexities. Despite the scale and severity of need, this population remains markedly underrepresented in research and underserved in clinical pathways.AMRS is designed to integrate robust clinical evidence with advances in translational research. The Summit promotes structured dialogue among clinicians, researchers, and allied professionals on assessment frameworks, stratification strategies, and integrated care models across the lifespan, with particular attention to medical complexity, comorbidities, and outcomes that matter to individuals and families.
The AMRS scientific programme combines state-of-the-art lectures, thematic sessions, and moderated discussions with oral communications, poster presentations, and Research Incubator Projects—a dedicated format aimed at fostering collaboration and turning high-potential ideas into feasible, impactful projects. Special focus is given to emerging domains that are reshaping the understanding of complex phenotypes, including systems biology, multi-omics, neuro-immunology, genomics, and digital tools supporting research and care. Our mission is to unite clinicians, scientists, industry innovators, policymakers, and families around a shared goal: improving health outcomes, reducing suffering, and developing actionable solutions for the most complex and underserved autistic individuals.
Through rigorous scientific exchange, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to clinical impact, AMRS aims to deliver a scientific and operational synthesis: identifying shared priorities, harmonising methodological approaches, and promoting evidence-based multidisciplinary pathways, with a clear orientation toward clinical impact and sustainability.
We seek not only to close scientific gaps—but to reshape the future of care for those with the highest support and medical needs.
